There is no better time to appreciate or become interested in the work of Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning technicians than during the sweltering months of summer when keeping cool is essential or in winter when all you want is to keep warm. If these weather conditions have sparked your interest, consider Centennial College’s Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Technician program, which take two years to complete.
Upon completion of the Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Technician program, students may obtain employment as heating technicians or through affiliated trade apprenticeships in plumbing, pipe fitting, electrical, sheet metal or refrigeration. Apprenticeship is required after graduation, for those who wish to become trades persons. In his or her career a Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Technician in responsible for making, installing, repairing and servicing residential, commercial and industrial cooling and heating systems. While some work in building maintenance, others specialize in repairing small, portable refrigeration and freezing units.
Please note that in order to apply for the Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Technician offering, students must complete an admission process. This includes having completed at minimum an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent, or have mature student status (19 years or older). In addition, students must have credentials for compulsory English 12C or U, or skills assessment, or equivalent; and Math 11M or U, or 12C or U, or skills assessment, or equivalent.
